To be recognized and certified as Manuka honey by the New Zealand government, the honey is tested for five specific standards. All five attributes must be met to pass the Ministry for Primary Industry’s requirements to be labeled as either mono-floral Manuka or multi-floral Manuka for exportation. These tests also verify that the Manuka honey has not been adulterated and the MGO content is stated on the product label.
